Video: Ryan Adams Covers Bob Mould, “Heartbreak a Stranger”
Last night, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, members of the Hold Steady, Dave Grohl, and others performed a tribute concert for Bob Mould at LA’s Walt Disney Hall. While most artists paid their debt to Mould by mining his Hüsker Dü and Sugar catalog for cover material, Ryan Adams turned in delicate, nuanced takes on a pair of lesser-known solo tunes: 1989 Workbook cut “Heartbreak a Stranger” and the title track to 1990’s Black Sheets of Rain. It must’ve been amazing to hear his set amid the acoustics of that famed Frank Gehry-designed venue, but this decent clip (via tapenoon) of the former song will certainly do for now.
slaying yet another cover. If I wasn’t interested...Bob Mould before, I just might be
I was there last night. It was amazing.
It’s an understatement to say I’m a little bit mesmerized by this...video from last night
Thank you Internet (and twentyfourbit)...bringing this video my way.
As a person who wishes he had been there, it sounds amazing.
